What is Locum Tenens:
“Locum tenens” is the Latin phrase for a person who temporarily fulfills the duties of another, a “place holder.” The phrase refers to a medical provider working in the place of another medical provider when he or she is absent, or when a hospital or practice is short-staffed.

Physicians:
How is CLR unique?
CLR has been working exclusively in the Southeast for more than 10 years. We cater to more Southeastern based facilities and providers than other locum tenens and permanent staffing solutions. It is because of our specific commitment to the Southeast that we are able to provide a superior customer service platform to our providers and offer a larger database of facilities and hospital network than national recruiting firms.
Locum Tenens for Providers:
Many physicians and physician extenders choose to work locum tenens during either a job transition, days off during their regular schedule to make extra income, a transition into semi-retirement, or even as a long-term career. Locum tenens enables providers to gain experience in various regions, patient populations, and work environments, while still earning top pay in their fields. Best of all, locum tenens organizations carry medical malpractice coverage on their providers, alleviating the extremely high individual malpractice costs.
How do locum tenens providers get paid?
Providers who work at any time between the 1st-15th of the month get paid on the 1st of the following month. Providers who work at any time between the 16th-31st are paid on the 15th of the following month. Payments are made through either direct deposit or snail mail checks.
How do locum tenens providers submit timesheets?
Timesheets can be faxed, emailed, or submitted via the CLR website no later than the Monday following your shift(s).

Locum Tenens for Medical Practices and Hospitals:
What do you do when your doctor goes on vacation? Don’t close your practice! Medical Facilities use locum tenens providers to ensure continuity of care within their practice and preserve their revenue stream during a provider absence. Medical practices and hospitals also use locum tenens providers as an option to staff their organizations during maternity leaves, vacations, peak sickness seasons, or while searching for a long-term or permanent provider. Using a locum tenens provider is the ideal solution when a facility is actively recruiting for a new permanent provider but still need a provider in the meantime. Using a locum provider also allows a medical practice to work with a provider prior to signing a permanent agreement, ensuring that the provider and the facility are a compatible match for long term success.
How does the locum tenens staffing procedure work?
In our initial consultation, we learn about your staffing needs, your systems and procedures, the physician qualifications needed, the provider’s role within your team and his/her responsibilities.
Next, we start our search process. Our strong database of physician information allows us to quickly access the potential pool of candidates available and reach them with news of your needs. We’ll start presenting our candidates’ curriculum vitae so you can choose the perfect match.
Once a match is made, the contract and confirmation is next. We will present our Facility and Clinic Locum Tenens Agreement for signature and negotiate a fee for call coverage, if needed.
Then we’ll handle every detail, including schedule confirmations for both the facility and provider, travel and housing arrangements and prompt invoicing for travel and payroll.
After the physician has completed his/her shift(s), please have an employee supply a timesheet for the provider to complete and sign. Facility employee will then fax the time sheet daily to 919.327.5202.
Finally, we gather evaluations following each assignment for future referencing in order to create the best placement experience possible for you.
It’s that easy?
It’s that easy. We get a qualified physician traveling, working and providing a great atmosphere for you and your patients. We handle all of the details for you and the physician. We even proactively let you know about future permanent and locum tenens candidates if you wish.
